What was once a neglected park in Shakurpur, Delhi, had become heavily littered and was being used as an informal dumping ground, with waste taking over a space meant for the community. Vrikshit Foundation stepped in with the support of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), our dedicated volunteers, and the necessary cleaning tools. Together, we cleared the accumulated waste and worked to restore the space to its intended purpose—a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming public park. The transformation was powered by teamwork. Volunteers showed up, tools turned into action, and a neglected space began to breathe again. This cleanup was not just about removing garbage; it was about reclaiming a community space and reminding everyone that public places deserve care too.

Vrikshit Foundation organised a cleanup drive at Jheel Park, Hari Nagar, bringing together volunteers with a shared commitment to creating cleaner and healthier public spaces. The team worked to remove accumulated waste, restore the surroundings, and raise awareness about responsible waste disposal and civic responsibility. The initiative was a small but meaningful step towards reviving the park as a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming space for the local community. Through such community-led efforts, Vrikshit Foundation continues to encourage citizens to take ownership of the spaces they share and contribute towards a more sustainable environment.

This event was conducted as a preparation for the main wall painting event which was to be conducted next day. Once we cleaned the Nangloi flyover it was time to paint the pillars for which the white wash was required as a base for the main paintings to be done. Hence, volunteers joined hands and painted the pillars in white. 40 volunteers took 5 hours to paint the pillars white. It was their hard work which helped us next day to create the beautiful murals at this location.

On their day off, volunteers and employees had the choice to stay home and rest, but instead chose to step out into Delhi’s intense heat to make a difference. With determination and purpose, they came together to plant 150 saplings, proving that meaningful change begins when people choose action over comfort.

The space under Prashant Vihar flyover was previously neglected and littered, with collected waste and limited greenery, making the area unhygienic and visually unappealing. It was also on the verge of becoming a hub for illegal activities. The cleanliness and plantation initiative transformed the space by removing 700+ kg of waste and planting 100+ saplings, creating a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming environment.
